stepping where the pavement splits slick, desperate terrain stepping where the pavement splits what's been tethered must descend stacking links on reddened skin and a hanging chain indifference stepping where the pavement splits will I see it again? hunched out on the corner, I watched them gut it dark entrails squeezed out from the brick wrapped around a scaffold, I waver like the braces fabric twisting in the wind mounds of fingers feeling around stacking links on reddened skin and a hanging chain indifference
4.
where do men go to unwind? they’re kneeling at a rubble shrine where do they spend all their time? they’re shifting, sobbing in a line drag my skin against uncanny monuments (through muted halls) cleaned myself right out, but devoured all I took so I took, and I took where do men go to unwind? they’re pressed against a rubber shrine where do they spend all their time they’re squatting, jeering in a line where do men go to unwind?

mapping out distorted thoughts no time to watch the leaves turn and fall no time to watch developments sprawl shuffling, waiting for a signal in the dark watch for a shadow of a figure in a park waiting for a signal in the dark lying low, clench loose grass wiping the psychic stains and I love the pain technology brings but I hate the putrid order of things and I am looking for an answer in the dark looking for an answer in the dark wiping the psychic stains

silver thorns protrude from every side stimulation’s waiting for you multitudes start turning towards you a tide is sagging underneath my eyes vacant pleasure invites pain eating from a filthy palm, unfurled licking marble digits clean the richest veining that I’ve seen a tide is sagging underneath my eyes vacant pleasure invites pain feed my weary mouth again

I was a 3-headed, six-legged hound faces pressed against the ground following a new, inviting scent hunting for a satisfying texture 500 dollars, stone slab to sleep in let my used flesh be your shining beacon 465 to keep one unprofitable dream alive things fall apart, the center cannot hold
9.
tossing, turning beneath a heap of glass pushing fingers through debris out by an underpass what will tomorrow bring? pinned to a vapid dream tossing, turning wipe off the marquetry dwelling on a plain technique while the world moves on around me, without me what will tomorrow bring? pinned to a vapid dream

circling the stems unseen I watched them gut it, heard it bleed I gnashed at every shoot and leaf I stripped my sockets of their teeth walk wild perimiters assessing the value, keeping a distance and when the fruit is ripe detach it with a knife stumbled in a frigid trance curved my body, then straightened like steel curved my body, then corroded like steel corroded like steel

rope of flowers will rest around my neck compulsive repetition sifting through a glowing wreckage if it's discarded, there'll be nothing to neglect and nothing to protect except the grief that has been kept tugging at an arrow of disease this poison wound will cease to bleed convulsing paradise compulsive repetition, no peace, no deeper vision dripping down the railing, watch it dry mashing up the orchids for the flies tying what's been severed

thousand grinning faces, twisting with derision I bend my body backwards, it's my decision reading from a rotten codex in the trenches tu vida artificial no me fascina mire con atencion las sombras bellas, serpentinas tu vida artificial no me fascina no me fascinas reading from a rotten codex in the trenches knots in the ore slithering through fences who slides the belt towards unbearable tensions?

about

“With Rotten Codex, the long-gestating debut LP from nebulous Chicago post-punk outfit Bruised, we find the project codifying and ultimately transcending the thematic proclivities of their previous work. The surreal sing-song-shout vocalization, lyrical guitar interplay, muscular basslines, and higher-brow inclinations that made Bruised one of Chicago’s most admired contemporary punk projects are on full display here - as are a number of left-field additions to the band’s pallet. Bruised have manifested a beautifully realized rock record with Rotten Codex. Erudite, occasionally something akin to the esoteric, and always evocative, Rotten Codex moves and moves and moves. ”
