There is a constant interplay between the synthetic and organic, the chemical and instinctual, prescription and intuition. In one track, crickets chirp amiably - the essential sonic shorthand for American folksy calm. Gradually, the insect chorus is consumed by a harbinger of urban catastrophe: hazy cries from a distant fire alarm.
